彼岸（沖縄県）
春分の日、秋分の日を中日とする前後各3日間は「彼岸」とされ、日本ではお墓参りを行う風習があります。沖縄ではこの期間のうち、いずれかの日に「ヒヌカン（火の神様）」と仏壇にお供え物をしたり、「屋敷の御願」を行う家庭もあります。「屋敷の御願」とは、日頃から家を守ってくれている神々に感謝を捧げ、家族の安全を祈願する、沖縄独自の風習です。
One week centering around the vernal and autumnal equinox days are called “Higan,” and Japan has a customary to visit graves. In Okinawa, some families make offerings to the Buddhist altar and Hinukan (the god of fire), or make a “wish for a house” on any day of this period. The wish for a house is a custom, unique to Okinawa, that gives thanks to the gods who protect the house and prays for the safety of the family.
