達磨（那覇市）
大願成就の縁起ものとして親しまれる「達磨」。沖縄で達磨といえば、「だるま寺」の名で親しまれる「西来院」が有名です。本堂の前には、撫でた部分が健康になると言われる「なでだるま」像が佇み、絵馬にも達磨の絵が描かれています。金色の達磨が描かれた鳥居も見応え抜群です。首里の四か所の寺院に祀られた干支の守り本尊を拝む、「首里十二支巡り（テラマーイ）」の寺院の一つでもあります。
“Daruma” is popular as a lucky charm for realization of a great ambition. “Sairaiin,” which is known as “Daruma Temple,” is famous in Okinawa. There are many Daruma motifs in the temple, on Torii gate or Ema for example, and in front of the main hall, there is a “Nadedaruma.” People stroke the body part of the daruma to pray for good health of the part. It is one of the “Teramai” temples where people go worshipping the guardian deity of the zodiac enshrined in the four temples of Shuri.
