糸満大綱引（糸満市）
旧暦8月15日、本島南部の糸満市で行われる「糸満大綱引」。五穀豊穣や無病息災、大漁祈願、家内安全を願い、綱引きの結果で吉凶を占います。大綱引の前には「道ジュネー」と呼ばれるパレードもあり、旗頭やエイサーなど伝統芸能が祭りを盛り上げます。糸満市を代表する伝統行事として、2014年に、県内で初めて「ふるさとイベント大賞」を受賞しています。
“Itoman Great Tug-of-War” is held in Itoman City, the southern part of the main island, on August 15th of the lunar calendar. It is held in order to play for a huge harvest, a good catch, good health, and the well-being of the family, in which this fortune is told by the result of the tug-of-war. There is also a parade called “Michi June” before the match, and traditional performing arts such as Hatagashira and Eisa create a festive atmosphere. As a traditional event representing Itoman City, it received the “Furusato Event Grand Prize” in 2014, which was the first in the prefecture.
