しまくとぅばの日（沖縄県）
沖縄や奄美の島々に受け継がれてきた「しまくとぅば（島言葉）」。2009年にはユネスコの消滅危機言語に指定され、各地域の言葉を守るための取り組みが広がっています。近年ではしまくとぅばを題材としたユニークな商品が人気を集め、「めんそーれ（いらっしゃい）」と挨拶をするATMがコンビニに設置されるなど、しまくとぅばを身近に感じられる機会も増えてきています。
“Shima Kotoba (island language)” has been passed down to the islands of Okinawa and Amami. In 2009, it was designated as a UNESCO endangered language, therefore, the activities to protect the language of each region are growing. In recent years, unique products based on Shima Kotoba became popular, such as ATMs in convenience stores that speak island language. There are more chances of getting closer to Shima Kotoba now!
