与那原大綱曳（与那原町）
沖縄三大大綱引きの一つであり、440年以上前に豊作祈願の神事として始まったとされる伝統行事です。琉球の歴史上の人物に扮した「支度」を乗せた大綱が街を練り歩く様子は、天に昇る龍を思わせる迫力満点の光景です。
One of the three major tug-of-war events in Okinawa, this traditional event is said to have started more than 440 years ago as a ritual to pray for a good harvest. The sight of the tug-of-war parading through the streets with “Shitaku,” dressed as Ryukyuan historical figures, is a powerful and impressive sight, like a dragon climbing up to the sky.
