ケラマジカ（阿嘉島）
琉球王朝時代に薩摩から持ち込まれたと伝えられています。本土のシカに比べると小柄で、角が短いのが特徴。現在では慶良間諸島の固有種となっており、個体数が少なく生息域も広くないため、天然記念物に指定されています。
Said to have been brought from Satsuma (present Kagoshima Prefecture) during the Ryukyu dynasty, the Kerama deer is smaller and has shorter antlers than a regular deer in mainland Japan. It is endemic to the Kerama Islands, and it has been designated as a natural monument because of its small population and limited habitat.
